Getting around in Florence

Bus tickets can be bought at tobacconists or vending machines at major
bus stops, and must be validated as you get on the bus. Tickets are sold
on a time basis - you can get one-hour, two-hour and 24-hour tickets.
Traffic is restricted in the city centre, so it's best to park a little
out of town and walk around - parking in the more central areas is very
expensive.
Tourist buses
Tourist bus circulation in Florence is regulated by a system of rules:
access to the city and parking must be booked and a tariff paid. There
are two packets of services, A and B, that can be picked up at the
checkpoints set up at the entry points to the city on the motorway exits
of “Firenze Sud” (Viale Venosta) and “Firenze Nord” (Via Palagio degli
Spini).
The service A is available 24hours (from 8,00 to 8,00) at the parking of
“Fortezza da Basso”.
The service B is available 24hours but from 8,00 am to 8,00 pm the
parkings authorized are:
Viale XI Agosto, Via Palazzeschi, Stazione di Rovezzano and from 8,00 pm
to 8,00 am at the parking of “Fortezza da Basso”.
Passengers are dropped off near the centre or the hotel, then buses
reach one of the available parking areas.
