BY PLANE FROM MARCO POLO AIRPORT
Venice Marco Polo Airport is located 12 km overland land and 10 km over
water from Venice and is well connected to the city by public
transportation lines (water and land) and to the rail station in Mestre.
The slip road opened in 1991 connects the Marco Polo airport directly to
the roadway network. The airport serves the entire tri-region of Veneto,
Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino Alto Adige. Distances in kilometres:
25 Km from Treviso - 32 Km from Padua - 45 Km from Jesolo - 65 Km from
Vicenza
There are several possibilities to reach the historic city centre
from the airport:
Car taxis: it takes 15 minutes to get to Piazzale Roma;
(radiotaxi Mestre tel.+39-041-936222). Once you reach Piazzale Roma you
can easily start your tour of Venice on foot or by waterbus.
Private Water taxis: it is the fastest means to reach the
historical centre - approximately 30 minutes - but also the most
expensive.
Bus ATVO: a direct connection from the airport to Venezia
(Piazzale Roma) that takes about 20 minutes; buses leave every half an
hour. The ticket includes luggage. The buses leave outside the arrivals
area on the right. The ATVO also offers a direct connection from Marco
Polo Airport to Mestre Train Station, luggage included.
Bus ACTV: it is a public transport bus (Line 5) connecting the
airport to Venezia (Piazzale Roma) and therefore makes several stops
before reaching Piazzale Roma (it takes approximately half an hour). The
ticket is quite cheap, but does not include luggage transport. You have
to purchase an extra ticket for each suitcase you're carrying on the bus
(the same price as for passengers). Public Bus Line 15 connects the
airport to Mestre Train Station.
Public ACTV watertaxi service: it is a private watertaxi service
which uses public transport's stops - therefore it offers less expensive
prices than private taxis. It links the airport to some of the most
important areas of Venice. The service includes the Alilaguna Red Line
-between brackets are the approximate lenghts of time for each stop-
which stops at Murano (30'), Lido (55'), Arsenale (1h.05'), S.Marco
(1h.10') and the Zattere (1h.20') and the Alilaguna Blue Line which
stops also at Fondamenta Nuove (30') and at S.Marco (58'). The Alilaguna
connects the Airport to Venice Port as well. Both lines leave each
hour..
BY PLANE FROM TREVISO AIRPORT
Treviso Airport is 3 km from the town centre of Treviso on the trunk
road SS 515 in the direction of Padova - near the by-pass SS53, which
connects Treviso to the main motorways in just a few minutes. Distances
in kilometres:
28,9 Km from Venice - 42 Km from Padua - 110 Km from Verona - 68 Km from
Vicenza
